Child Protection Line

National Child Protection Line - 0800 022 3222

This was re-launched on the 12th February, 2008 and you may have seen some of the publicity advising this line. This is a national free phoneline for members of the public to phone if they see behaviour that is of concern, or if a child or young person has told them something that they need to share with a professional in order to protect the child.

Members of the public can also phone their local Social Work office or Police directly if they have concerns and any emergency situation should be addressed by phoning 999.

Professionals should follow their own local child protection procedures relating to child protection. If unsure where to find these, please ask your line manager
